Introducing Virtuthon, a newly released application on the App Store, developed by 13-year-old Adrit Rao, a notable winner of the WWDC 2020 Swift Student Challenge. This innovative app is designed to facilitate participation in group walkathons and marathons, allowing users to engage in these activities regardless of their location.

With Virtuthon, group leaders can effortlessly create a team and share a unique group code to invite others. Participants within the group have access to each other's step counts, fostering a sense of motivation and camaraderie throughout the event. The group leader is empowered to set specific start and end dates for their walkathon or marathon, enhancing the organization of the activity.

It is important to note that Virtuthon does not integrate with HealthKit or CareKit. Instead, it harnesses the capabilities of the iPhone's accelerometer to gather activity and fitness data. Data collection begins only when the walkathon or marathon officially starts, ensuring user privacy and security.

Additionally, the app features a chat functionality that encourages interaction among group members, facilitating communication and engagement during the event. Overall, Virtuthon offers an engaging platform for individuals looking to participate in fitness challenges with friends and peers.
